Draft — for professional legal review

Service Terms

The terms that apply when I carry out work for you as a homeowner or landlord. This is a plain-English summary — not a substitute for professional legal advice, and these terms have not yet been through formal legal review.

1. Booking & confirmation

Submitting an enquiry through the website, by phone, email or WhatsApp is a request only. No booking is confirmed until I've personally reviewed it and confirmed the appointment with you directly.

2. Access to the property

You'll need to provide reasonable access to the property and the relevant appliances at the agreed appointment time. If access can't reasonably be arranged, I'll do my best to rearrange, though this may affect availability of the next appointment slot.

3. Estimates & quotations

Where possible, I'll give you a price before work begins. Some jobs can only be accurately priced after inspection — in those cases, I'll always confirm a price with you before proceeding.

4. Diagnostic charges

The standard diagnostic visit is £80, including the first 60 minutes. This is credited toward the repair cost only if the repair is completed during that same visit. If you choose not to proceed, or the repair is completed on a different visit, the diagnostic charge remains payable in full. An out-of-hours diagnostic visit is £120, including the first 60 minutes, and is available when capacity allows.

5. Payment on completion

Payment for domestic work is due immediately on completion, by bank transfer, card, contactless, or cash. I don't request deposits.

6. Approved landlord account terms

Landlord and letting agent accounts may, once approved, and only after the first job has been completed and paid for, receive one weekly invoice covering all your properties with 7-day payment terms. These terms are not automatic and are agreed individually.

7. Parts & manufacturer warranties

Parts and materials are covered by their manufacturer's own warranty, which is separate from my workmanship guarantee below. I'll pass on any relevant manufacturer warranty information at the time of the job.

8. 12-month workmanship guarantee

All repair and installation work carried out by me is covered by a 12-month guarantee on my workmanship. This guarantee covers defects in the work I've personally carried out. It does not cover:

  • Ordinary wear and tear
  • Faults arising from inadequate maintenance
  • Faults unrelated to the original work carried out
  • Damage caused by you, a third party, or misuse

This guarantee does not affect your statutory rights.

9. Customer-supplied materials

If you supply your own parts or materials for a job, I can't guarantee their quality or suitability, and my workmanship guarantee won't extend to faults caused by those materials.

10. Unforeseen & additional work

Sometimes further work is only apparent once a job is underway. Where this happens, I'll always explain what I've found and quote for any additional work before carrying it out — I won't proceed without your approval.

11. Attendance times

Same-day attendance may be available depending on workload, location and parts availability, but it is never guaranteed. Out-of-hours attendance is available when capacity allows.

12. Cancellations & access

Under my current policy, I don't charge a cancellation fee or a no-access fee. I'd appreciate as much notice as possible if you need to rearrange, so the appointment slot can be offered to someone else.

13. Complaints

If you're ever unhappy with any part of the work, please contact me directly on 07931 729 022 or info@mcnamaraheating.co.uk and I'll do my best to put things right.

14. Statutory rights

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

These Service Terms are a draft, written in plain English for clarity. They have not yet been reviewed or approved by a solicitor, and should be treated as a summary of my current working practices rather than a definitive legal document.
