A proper service means testing, not glancing. I use a flue gas analyser — a meter that reads the gases coming out of the boiler — so the readings either fall inside the manufacturer's safe range or they don't. No guesswork.
What gets cleaned or stripped depends on the appliance, its condition, and what the manufacturer's instructions call for. Some boilers need very little. Others need components removing and cleaning properly.
You get told what I found either way, and the price is £80 whatever type of boiler you have.
